You Get more comfortable in front of the camera

For most couples, their engagement session is the first time they will have been photographed. Doing an engagement photo shoot is one of the easiest ways for a couple to feel more relaxed and confident in front of the camera before the wedding day. It gives you both a chance to warm up, shake off any nerves, and get used to how it feels to be photographed without the pressure of a tight timeline or a crowd watching.  By the time the wedding arrives, you already know what to expect, which will help you focus on having fun on your big day!

You build a better relationship with your photographer

An engagement session is a great way to build a stronger relationship with your wedding photographer before the big day. Since you’ll spend more time with your photographer than almost anyone else on your wedding day, it helps to already feel connected and comfortable. During the engagement session, you get to know each other’s personalities, communication styles, and what makes you feel most at ease. That familiarity carries over into your wedding, making the experience smoother, more enjoyable, and allowing your photographer to capture your day in a way that feels natural and true to you.

It’s a great chance to trial your hair and makeup

Using your engagement session as a trial run for professional hair and makeup is a smart way to make the most of the experience. It lets you see how your styling holds up outdoors, how it photographs, and whether there is anything you want to adjust before the wedding day. It is the perfect low pressure opportunity to fine tune your wedding day beauty choices so you feel your absolute best when it matters most.

You’ll get photos you can actually use

Engagement session photos are incredibly versatile and can add a personal touch to both your pre wedding mailers and your wedding day decor. You can use your favorite images for save the dates, invitations, wedding websites, and guest reminders to create a cohesive look from the very beginning. On the wedding day, those same photos can be displayed in framed prints, welcome signs, guest book designs, seating charts, or even custom table decor. They help tell your story, and make your celebration feel a bit more personal.

Its a fun date!

This one’s a no brainer. You’re dressed up, having a great time, and dreaming about your wedding day with your fiancé…The only thing left to do is to go out for a nice dinner afterwards and talk about how much fun you had with your wedding photographer. (I may have taken some liberties with this one)
